Jonas Lüscher is a Swiss-German writer, essayist, and winner of the 2017 Swiss Book Prize for his second novel Kraft. He was previously nominated for the Swiss Book Prize and the German Book Prize in 2013 for his first novel, Frühling der Barbaren, which also received the Franz-Hessel Preis, the Literary Award of Kanton Bern, the Hans Fallada Prize, and the Bayerischer Kunstförderpreis. He was educated in Bern, and at the Munich School of Philosophy, the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, the ETH, and Stanford University (as an SNCF-funded researcher in the Comparative Literature Department). He has worked as a script editor and screenwriter for the Munich film industry, a freelance editor, and is a member of the PEN Centre Germany. He currently lives in Munich.
