Profile PD Dr. Julia Landmann
Julia has been a lecturer in English Linguistics at the University of Basel since August 2022. In May 2022, she completed her habilitation project on "The Dynamic Lexicon of English: A Socio-Cognitive Perspective" at Heidelberg University, where she also held an interim professorship at the Chair of English Linguistics during the winter term 2021/2022.
In 2011, Julia received her PhD on the recent influence of French on English at Heidelberg University, after studying English and French culture, politics, linguistics and literature in Heidelberg, Aberystwyth (Wales) and at the Sorbonne Nouvelle in Paris.
Julia’s main research and teaching interests focus on lexicology, phraseology, historical semantics, language contact, cognitive linguistics, sociolinguistics, and the complex relationship between language and emotion.
