Her doctoral thesis on "Language education and the global care work economy – Mapping structural inequalities in Philippine nurse migration to Germany" is now available open access: https://edoc.unibas.ch/90104/
In this excellent thesis Stefanie Meier presents an empirical study of the role that acquiring proficiency in German plays in the access to the German care work market. Her approach combined colonial, feminist ethnography with a discourse analytic perspective in order to reveal how social inequalities manifest themselves from an informed theoretical and empirical stance.
