Bloomsday

Come one, come all to the English Seminar's Annual Bloomsday celebrations!

Don't forget that Bloomsday is this Friday, June 16th in the English Seminar!  In keeping with the tradition of previous years, we will celebrate the day on which James Joyce's Ulysses takes place with performed scenes, a culinary odyssey, live music, and general merriment!

The event officially opens at 6pm, and everyone is welcome to make use of the BBQs and marvel at the culinary odyssey. This year, the theme of the odyssey is a journey through A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man and Ulysses through the tastebuds of Stephen Dedalus.  The 25 culinary artists were given food-related quotations from each of the novels and will display the fruits of their labour for your visual and gustatory pleasure!

Performances from Ulysses and Finnegans Wake will take place from 7-8pm.  Please note the performance of the first sketch will take place in the second floor foyer of Nadelberg 6 (the other scenes will be in the courtyard).  Then we will have live music from 8pm onwards.

What to bring:

  • Meat/veggies for the BBQ
  • Your own alcohol (there will be some, but in limited supply)
  • a donation for the box if you feel so inclined (entrance is free but contributions are appreciated)
  • yourself, your friends, your family (this event is not limited to students of the English seminar; please bring anyone you like!)

We have a facebook event, so please feel free to rsvp and spread the word: https://www.facebook.com/events/649865321869144/
