Anger Metaphors in American English
In the talk, I revisit a paper on the conceptualization of anger in English written by Lakoff and Kövecses 40 years ago. The paper became well-known in cognitive linguistic circles and beyond, but at the same time it was criticized for its "intuitive" methodology. As part of a larger project, Sullivan and I have recently reanalyzed the concept by means of two methods: the lexical and corpus-based ones. I discuss the results in my presentation.
