SUMMARY:Casework as a Consulting Forensic Linguist
DESCRIPTION:Tim  Grant is one of the world’s most experienced forensic li
 nguistic  practitioners and his case work has involved the analysis of abu
 sive and threatening  communications in many different contexts including 
 investigations into  sexual assault\, stalking\, murder and terrorism. In 
 2019 he was award a  Commendation by the UK National Crime Agency for his 
 part in the investigation that led to the arrest and successful  prosecuti
 on of Matthew Falder. He has provided evidence for both  prosecution and d
 efence in criminal cases\, in commercial arbitration  disputes and in civ
 il cases involving discipline and dismissal of staff and copyright infring
 ement and plagiarism.   In this  talk he will discuss how linguistic des
 criptive skills and theories can  be applied to forensic texts and context
 s to assist in investigation and  provide evidence in Court.\\r\\nTo atten
